Liam Rosenior has stated he doesn’t want to bring in players who don’t improve the group amid links to signing a new midfielder.
Chelsea were expected to have a quiet January, which mainly focused on outgoings, however, the Blues have changed their plans and are looking to bring in another centre back and possibly a midfielder.
The Blues have identified Jeremy Jacquet as their main priority at centre back, and are thought to be exploring deals for a short term solution in midfield.
Given the injury issues of Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo the Blues are short of bodies in midfield, and Reece James has played there more than expected this season.
Chelsea are reportedly considering a loan move for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, and Rosenior was asked about the possibility of bringing another midfielder in.

“But in terms of my midfield options you’ve got Enzo [Fernandez], Moi [Caicedo], Andrey Santos, Reece James,” he told his pre-match press conference.
“It’s not bad. I’ve been really clear on this. I don’t want to bring in players that don’t enhance the group or the chemistry that we’re building.
“So we have to be very selective at this stage of the season. If we do bring in the right player in a certain position, they have to have a clear impact on the team.”
Whilst the Blues are looking to bring in a short term solution, they may struggle to keep some of their existing options in the summer.

Enzo Fernandez is reportedly attracting interest from Paris Saint Germain, and the French giants are believed to have made initial contact with his entourage.
However, it appears Fernandez is happy at Chelsea, although the Blues could have potential issues if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.
