Ivory Coast take on Cameroon in the standout Group F fixture on matchday two at the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday evening at Stade de Marrakech.

The defending champions opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over Mozambique, while Cameroon also edged Gabon by the same scoreline.

Match preview

Ivory Coast dominated possession against Mozambique, with match-winner Amad Diallo and Yan Diomande providing wide threats.

They created six big chances, but were wasteful and nearly paid for it just before the final whistle, when Mozambique’s Geny Catamo should have scored from close range but fluffed the chance.

Ivory Coast will have to be more prolific and avoid defensive complacency against Cameroon.

Meanwhile, the Indomitable Lions enjoyed a bright start against Gabon, with Etta Eyong scoring inside six minutes, becoming the fastest goalscorer for Cameroon in the competition since 1998.

However, they could not sustain the momentum, allowing Gabon to control the game, although they still created the most opportunities.

With Eyong and Bryan Mbeumo, Cameroon have two of the best forwards in this tournament, but will need the duo to show better chemistry in this fixture and beyond.

Head-to-head

Historically, this has been a keenly contested fixture, with Ivory Coast winning 10 matches, losing nine and drawing two of their previous meetings with Cameroon.

Team news

Both sides head into this fixture with no injury concerns.

Predicted line-ups

Ivory Coast (4-3-3): Yahia Fofana, Guela Doue, Odilon Kossounou, Evan Ndicka, Ghislain Konan, Ibrahim Sangare, Jean Seri, Franck Kessie, Amad Diallo, Wilfred Zaha, Yan Diomande.

Cameroon (3-5-2): Devis Epassy, Che Malone, Samuel Kotto, Nouhou Tolo, Darlin Yongwa, Arthur Avom, Danny Namaso, Carlos Baleba, Junior Tchamadeu, Etta Eyong, Bryan Mbeumo

Prediction

We expect this to be evenly contested; we say Ivory Coast 1-1 Cameroon.
