Manchester City attacker Jack Grealish has gone ‘above and beyond’ to make a loan deal to Everton happen as he really wants to join the Hill Dickinson Stadium club, according to former Sky Sports journalist and Toffees insider Alan Myers.
Everton manager David Moyes wants an attacker ahead of the new season, and the England international is set to join the Toffees.
An official announcement likely to confirm the deal anytime soon after he underwent his medical today.
Grealish’s desire to feature when Everton play their first Premier League game of 2025-26 against Leeds United next Monday at Elland Road accelerated discussions, reports The Times.
The Blues boss could hand the Man City man his debut against the newly-promoted club, and he will be desperate to make an immediate statement of intent.
Everton are committing at least £12 million to the loan deal as they are covering a large chunk or all of his £300,000-a-week wages.
It was one of the conditions Man City gave for a deal to go through, and it appears the Merseyside club have agreed to it.
The Etihad Stadium club also insisted on including an option for Everton to buy him permanently next summer, with a figure of £50m mooted.
Grealish would have one year left on his deal at the end of the season and it is unlikely to see the Toffees agreeing to that condition.
He was not included in the squad that went to the Club World Cup as he is no longer in the plans of Man City manager Pep Guardiola, but he has been training individually and could be fit enough to feature from the bench against Leeds.
Signing such a player permanently could prove tricky given the finances involved, but nothing can be ruled out and both parties will discuss that possibility at the end of the season if he impresses.
