Jack Harrison a step closer to permanent Leeds exit after Fiorentina win

Jack Harrison wants to make his Fiorentina loan permanent, and the fight to stay in Serie A will decide it. Fiorentina’s 2-1 win at Como on Saturday nudged that prospect forward.

The 29-year-old joined in January and has an assist from two league outings, with Fiorentina holding an option to buy. Gazzetta dello Sport reports that a deal would only proceed if the club avoid relegation, with the team 18th and three points from safety.

Fiorentina stunned Cesc Fabregas’s Como 2-1 away, with Harrison completing 90 minutes in the front three.

Relegation peril is unusual for Fiorentina, whose last close call came over two decades ago. Financial strains, including stadium redevelopment issues, mean dropping to Serie B could derail transfer plans, Harrison’s included.

Harrison’s next performances could shape both his future and Fiorentina’s survival prospects. If they stay up, his form may tip the scales towards a £6m permanent move. He remains under contract at Leeds until 2028 and his future there seems over.

From a Leeds perspective, a departure would open space for new signings. They have already added Facundo Buonanotte on loan and, if he impresses, will pursue a permanent deal as Daniel Farke reshapes the squad.

For now, everything hinges on whether Fiorentina cling to safety, which would allow his Italian spell to continue beyond this season.
