Jack Harrison has left Leeds United after eight years, joining New England Revolution, and used a farewell message to address criticism of his two-year loan at Everton. The player said in a post that he departs with immense pride.

He made 219 appearances after arriving on loan in 2018, then signed permanently in 2021. He played every Championship game in the 2019/20 title campaign and scored 21 goals in 118 Premier League matches, including a final day strike at Brentford that secured survival in 2022.

He triggered a clause allowing a loan for each season outside the top flight and spent two years at Everton. Many supporters viewed it as desertion and he was booed on his return as Daniel Farke sought to reintegrate him. After only one league start and 197 minutes off the bench, he moved to Fiorentina in January.

He produced one goal and three assists in 15 Serie A games, but Fiorentina did not activate a £six million buy-out clause by the end of June. Omission from Farke’s US tour this month underlined his exit. He was presented to New England Revolution fans on Sunday, then posted his goodbye on Monday.

Leeds had become his home, shaping him as a player and person, and the memories will be cherished. The loans were not straightforward and some struggled to accept them, yet his respect for the club did not change. Seeing Leeds back in the Premier League made him proud as he thanked supporters and looked to the next chapter.
