The attacking midfielder was hugely influential for the Sky Blues following Frank Lampard’s appointment last season, as his goals and quality on the ball helped the team reach the play-offs against all odds.

However, Coventry have coped superbly well without their star man this season, as they’re top of the Championship, ten points clear of third, after 16 games.

And, much to the worry of their promotion rivals, Coventry have found themselves in that position without Rudoni for a chunk of the season so far, with the 24-year-old having picked up a calf problem back in September.

But, he was fit enough to make the bench against Albion, and Lampard brought Rudoni on with ten minutes to go to help the team to another win, after they had come from two down to take the lead against their Midlands rivals.

As you would expect, Rudoni was given a great reception as he made his way back out on the pitch, and it’s fair to say that he enjoyed that show of support.

Jack Rudoni will have a big role to play in Coventry City’s promotion push

Coventry enjoyed another brilliant afternoon on Saturday, with Rudoni’s return from injury the cherry on top for Lampard.

The Sky Blues had to show real character to come from two goals down, and whilst Jayson Molumby’s red card undoubtedly helped, there was a sense of inevitability that they would go on to win from that moment, which says a lot about the team right now.

Obviously, adding someone with Rudoni’s talent to the mix is going to make Coventry even better, and he provides them with yet another goal threat.

He will have been delighted to get back out on the pitch after a frustrating few months, and it’s now about rediscovering the form that made him one of the standout players in the Championship last season.

It’s going to be hard to stop Coventry anyway, but if Rudoni does get back to those levels, they could run away with the title, even if Lampard won’t allow complacency to creep in.
