The Sky Blues were very active last summer after they lost Viktor Gyokeres and Gustavo Hamer and had to be replaced by new arrivals.

Those additions made a good impact for Coventry last season. The club finished just short of the play-offs and made it all the way to the FA Cup semi-final.

The aim will be to get back into those play-offs and secure promotion to the Premier League. To do so, Robins is likely going to want to add to the signings he has made so far.

With that said, here at Football League World, we have decided to look at the clear winners from Coventry’s summer transfer window so far…

Luis Binks

Luis Binks spent last season on loan at Coventry, joining the club from Italian side Bologna.

Binks joined Bologna in 2020 but only played 15 times for the club. When he joined the Sky Blues last season, it was a chance for him to impress.

The 22-year-old played 18 times for Coventry in the Championship, 15 of which came as a starter. He also played four times in the FA Cup and once in the Carabao Cup.

Binks was on the bench a lot for Coventry’s league games, but in his 23 games for the club, he obviously did enough to convince Coventry to sign him.

This makes the defender a big winner in the club’s transfer window so far. Binks struggled for regular game time while at Bologna, being sent out on loan numerous times. So, when he joined the Sky Blues, it was a chance for him to impress and earn a permanent switch back to the UK.

That is exactly what the player did, and he’s signed a four-year deal with Coventry, and will likely be a big part of what they do this season and beyond.

Joining Coventry is a very big move for the player, one that could help him kick-start his career and follow in the footsteps of other young players Coventry have had in the past.

Jack Rudoni

Jack Rudoni is another one of Coventry’s three signings so far in this transfer window, joining the club from Huddersfield Town.

This is the second big move in the player's early career, after the 23-year-old started off at AFC Wimbledon and impressed a lot.

He was one of the club’s key players in League One, scoring 12 times in his last campaign for the club, but was unable to keep them in the third tier.

This saw Huddersfield pounce on the player and secure a deal for the young midfielder. Rudoni instantly became a firm fixture in the Terriers’ starting XI, playing 46 times in his first season in the Championship and then 35 games last season.

But Huddersfield suffered relegation to League One last season, and that saw Coventry take advantage of the situation and secure his signature.

Rudoni is so far a clear winner in Coventry’s transfer window. The player has been able to secure a transfer move to a Championship club despite being part of a team that was relegated last season - there is a pattern emerging whereby Rudoni is failing up, impressing in poor sides.

Rudoni did well with Huddersfield, though, he scored seven goals and chipped in with eight assists in 84 appearances in all competitions. But there is definitely more in the player, and it's down to Coventry to lure that out of him.

Therefore, Rudoni is definitely a winner. He can continue playing in the second tier, and he joins a side that will be expected to be pushing for a top-six finish. Furthermore, he gets to work under Robins, who has proven to do very well with young attacking players like Rudoni, with Callum O'Hare being a very good example.
