Jadon Sancho (24) produced his best performance since returning to Borussia Dortmund on loan from Manchester United, during die Schwarzgelben’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League semi-final.
Nuno Mendes, who missed PSG’s 3-3 draw against Le Havre AC on Saturday as a precaution, was a doubt to face Dortmund. Ultimately, the Portuguese full-back did get the nod at left-back but he endured a torrid evening chasing Sancho’s shadows throughout the night.
Whilst Sancho didn’t register a goal or an assist – although he ought to have after Niclas Füllkrug blasted over from close range after some good work from the Englishman, he destabilised Les Parisiens’ defence throughout. He completed an impressive 12 dribbles, more than the entire PSG team combined (11).
He also completed an impressive seven ball recoveries and made three key passes. After a difficult spell at Manchester United, marked by a disagreement with manager Erik Ten Hag, Sancho has rebuilt his career at Borussia Dortmund, the club at which he forged his reputation. That reputation is growing once again after a standout appearance on a big Champions League night.
