Getafe star Jaime Mata on Saturday etched his name indellibly into the history books of the capital club.
As much comes owing to his exploits en route to Getafe’s latest victory, on Saturday afternoon.
José Bordalás’ troops are fresh off a return to winning ways, at the expense of the now-relegated Almería.
The Azulones ultimately emerged on the right side of a 3-1 result at the Power Horse Stadium, the on-loan Mason Greenwood proving himself the star of the show courtesy of a brace, and an assist.
As alluded to above, though, post-match, Greenwood is not the only member of Getafe’s attacking ranks to have taken his place in the headlines.
So too has veteran frontman Jaime Mata.
35-year-old Mata was responsible for netting his side’s result-clinching third on Saturday, courtesy of a clinical finish from close range.
And, in the process, the Spaniard secured for himself some altogether noteworthy history.
As revealed by statisticians Opta, Mata has now joined Manu del Moral as the highest-ever scorer for Getafe in La Liga, with 37 goals to his name:
