MIAMI – Costa Rica and Jamaica got off to winning starts in Round One of the 2025 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers on Thursday.
Group E
Jamaica 6, Saint Kitts and Nevis 0
Jamaica won 6-nil against Saint Kitts and Nevis to kick off its campaign in Group E at the National Stadium in Managua, Nicaragua.
The opening goal came from Kiana Wilson in the 4' with a right-footed shot.
Brianna Turner extended the lead in the 33’ to double the Jamaican advantage.
Ella Provost-Heron netted the third goal of the night in the 47’ with a left-footed hit from the upper side of the box.
Wilson secured a brace, scoring the fourth goal for Jamaica, in the 58’, before converting for a hat-trick two minutes after, in the 62’.
The sixth goal of the match came from Shauntai Pryce in the 73’ as Jamaica rose to first place on goal difference.
The Reggae Girlz will meet Nicaragua on Saturday to decide the top spot in the group, which also serves as a berth to the Final Round.
Group F
Costa Rica 7, Grenada 0
Costa Rica won 7-nil against Grenada in Group F at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Las Ticas started their goal count in the 6’ with a right-footed shot by Lucia Paniagua.
A header in the box by Tiara Ruiz in the 11’, originating from a free-kick opportunity, doubled the lead for Costa Rica.
Daniela Ocampo earned the third goal of the night for Costa Rica in the 13’, striking a left-footed touch in the box.
Alisha Lindo was ready to take advantage of a clearance in the box to get the fourth Costa Rica goal in the 23’.
Emma Azofeifa struck a banger in the 31’ to increase the Costa Rica lead by five.
An unstoppable 40-yard free-kick shot from Isska Chaverrí in the 38’ gave Las Ticas the sixth goal of the evening.
Paniagua secured her brace and the seventh goal for Costa Rica in the 40’, as Costa Rica rose to first place in the group.
The Dominican Republic and Costa Rica will meet on Saturday in the group finale, with the top spot and berth to the Final Round at stake.
