QPR have already had to deal with injuries this season and have a gap or two to plug. Here are two players they could sign in this transfer window.
Queens Park Rangers have already had to deal with some injuries and have a gap or two to plug in their first-team squad, so here are a couple of players they could bring in before 1 September.
It's been a difficult start to the season for Queens Park Rangers, with just a single point taken from their first three games of the season and elimination from the EFL Cup at the first hurdle at the hands of League One Plymouth Argyle.
Early-season teething issues aren't the only problems they have to face. Ziyad Larceche, Michael Frey, Kwame Poku and Jake Clarke-Salter are all injured, while captain Jimmy Dunne has also been absent but is now due to return.
With just over a week to go before the closure of the summer transfer window, though, there is still time for QPR to add to their squad, not only to cover any injuries but also to add depth in positions in which they don't have a lot of cover.
With that all in mind, here are two players that they could bring in to help strengthen their numbers before the window slams shut on 1 September.
Jamal Lewis seems likely to be one of the most in-demand out-of-contract players over the last week of the transfer window.
Released by Newcastle United in the summer, the accomplished 27-year-old left-sided defender remains out-of-contract and could help to plug the gap that QPR have on the left-hand side of their defence.
Lewis was the subject of interest from Luton Town during the summer but no deal has been tied up for him yet, and Rangers could swoop in and make him an offer he can't refuse before the end of the month.
A potential sticking point could be wages. Lewis is estimated by Capology to have been on £45,000-a-week at Newcastle, and that's well above the current Queens Park Rangers salary structure, but as a free agent there'd be no transfer fee payable and the player could be persuaded that a move to Loftus Road could breathe some life back into a career which has stalled a bit of late.
And QPR would be getting a lot of player for their money. Lewis is a left-back, but his heatmap demonstrates that he can get forward as well.
The squad needs bolstering on the left, and this player could provide an answer that fits in with Julien Stephan's style of play. He also has plenty of Championship experience too, having started his career at Norwich City and spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Watford.
But the injury to Ziyad Larceche leaves a vacancy in that position, and Lewis would be an outstanding replacement.
Jake Clarke-Salter's injury issues leave Queens Park Rangers a little short on the left side of their central defence, and the club had been linked to former Rangers central defender Ben Davies.
He's now agreed to join Oxford United on a season-long loan, but there are other left-sided central defenders that they can look at. One such player could be Brendan Galloway of Plymouth Argyle.
Galloway missed much of last season with injury, but he's recovered now and has played in all four of Plymouth's matches so far this season.
His heatmap for last season shows a more defensively-minded player than Davies, but QPR haven't kept a clean sheet this season, and his tendency to move towards the left could also suit Julien Stephan.
Galloway has only got a year left on his contract at Home Park, and his wages are estimated by Salary Sport to be a fairly modest £5,500-a-week.
He wouldn't be the star name that fans might be hoping for ahead of the closure of this window, but squad-building is important in a 46-game division, and Galloway could provide a good option across the back as cover.
