James Rodríguez close to completing MLS move

James Rodríguez is on the verge of signing for MLS side Minnesota United on a short-term deal.
The 34-year-old is currently a free agent after most recently featuring for Mexican side Club León where played 34 games over two seasons, scoring five times and making 10 assists.
Well-travelled Rodríguez has already played in 11 different countries for 12 clubs in his career including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Everton and is now set to take on a new challenge.
According to journalists Tom Bogert and Felipe Cardenas of The Athletic, the Colombian will not be a designated player and has signed a short-term contract with a view of gaining match fitness ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Last season, Minnesota United finished fourth in the Western Conference of the MLS but were knocked out of the MLS Cup by San Diego FC.
