James Trafford starts as England lose 3-2, Dominic Calvert-Lewin cameo and Nico Elvedi helps Switzerland | OneFootball

Leeds United’s internationals were in early action as James Trafford started for England and Dominic Calvert-Lewin featured late in a 3-2 Nations League defeat to Spain on Saturday night.

Trafford, the club’s record signing and new no 1, was picked at home against world champions Spain. Marc Guehi’s early error allowed Lamine Yamal to score inside the second minute. England turned it round before half-time through Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane.

After the interval, Kane struck a penalty against the bar when chasing 3-1. Alex Baena levelled on the hour and Mikel Oyarzabal hit the winner 16 minutes from time. Trafford was beaten by three clinical finishes.

Leeds no 9 Calvert-Lewin replaced Kane for the final seven minutes and struggled to influence play.

Elvedi completed 90 minutes for Switzerland in a 3-0 Nations League win away to North Macedonia, helping secure a clean sheet.

Earlier, Gruev returned from injury to play the full match for Bulgaria, who lost 2-1 at home to Luxembourg.

On Sunday, Ethan Ampadu, Dan James and Jayden Lienou are with Wales for a Nations League trip to Denmark, kick-off 5pm. Later, Anton Stach looks set for more minutes for Germany at home to Greece from 7.45pm.
