Jamie Carragher facing bankruptcy petition from HMRC

Jamie Carragher is facing a bankruptcy petition from HM Revenue and Customs.

The former Liverpool and England defender, 48, is alleged not to have settled a tax bill. He appeared before the court on Wednesday 26 August, according to The Athletic.

Carragher won 38 England caps between 1999 and 2010 and made 737 appearances for Liverpool from 1996 to 2013.

He retired in 2013, then joined Sky Sports, where he also commentates on selected matches.

In 2020 he added a role with CBS in the US, working on Champions League coverage alongside Thierry Henry. He has since become an adviser to Marine FC, a 6th Division English club.
