Jamie Gittens stats and highlights show he had a good game for England U21s last night on international duty.
Gittens is a player who needs to build some confidence and some momentum up and really needed this international break in order to do so without the pressure of playing for Chelsea on his shoulders.
He’s not had a great start to life as a Chelsea player and he has got former players such as Pat Nevin questioning his signing and saying Chelsea will regret selling Noni Madueke and replacing him with the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Gittens.
Gittens actually had a very good debut for Chelsea and looked like the sort of player who was direct and was going to make things happen and become a scary prospect for Premier League defenders. But since then, he has stuttered and struggled to build up any decent form.
But he had a good game for England U21s last night as he helped them beat Andorra U21s 1-0 in a Euros qualification game.
Gittens with a good SofaScore rating last night
I watched a 3 minute clip of his highlights that can be found here, and in these he looks like he had a very good game. Of course, you can never judge a performance from a highlights reel, but it looks like Gittens had some very good touches, crosses, and some nice little dribbles as well that proved effective.
As well as the video, his stats showed he had an effective and tidy game as well.
Gittens vs Andorra U21:
• 1 ASSIST • 89% Pass Accuracy • 3 Chances Created • 5 Key Passes • 3/4 Successful Long Balls • 5/8 Successful Take-Ons • 7/13 Ground Duels Won • 3/6 Successful Crosses
He just now needs to build on this decent international break and use it to his strength to come back to Chelsea and play with confidence and belief in his own ability.
