Jamie Vardy has opened up on his Leicester City exit, saying he was simply not happy in his final days. According to LeicesterMercury.co.uk, the remarks feature in a new three-part ITV documentary about his move to Italy.
The striker ended a 13-year stay at the King Power Stadium after the 2024/25 season, departing with 200 goals in 500 appearances. He scored in his farewell outing against Ipswich Town.
In footage around the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest in May, he said it did not feel strange to have one game left. He stressed the decision was personal and not a dispute with the club, adding he was not happy.
Vardy did not sign for a new team until September, when Serie A newcomers Cremonese gave him a one-year deal. It included an option for a further 12 months if they avoided relegation back to the second tier.
He and his family returned to the King Power last weekend as City marked 10 years since their Premier League title. Bound by his Cremonese contract, he did not play but received a hero’s welcome when he stepped onto the pitch.
It is now expected he will leave Cremonese when his contract expires at the end of the month and become a free agent. Speculation has linked him with a Leicester reunion, with Sheffield Wednesday also briefly mentioned.
