The 39-year-old has taken a massive estimated pay cut to continue his playing career in Italy
FLW takes a look at Jamie Vardy's current Cremonese salary and how it compares to what the striker was earning at Leicester City.
The veteran striker has taken a massive estimated pay cut to continue his playing career in Italy, with the 39-year-old now earning wages comparable to what he pocketed at Leicester City over a decade ago.
He departed the King Power Stadium last summer after 13 glittering years with the Foxes, ending a remarkable association that saw him score 200 goals in 500 appearances, whilst achieving pretty much everything a top-flight striker could dream of.
Vardy's 24 goals during the 15/16 title-winning campaign, including breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy's record by scoring in 11 consecutive Premier League matches, made him a Premier League icon - and it looks like he's trying his best to show a glimpse of that class in northern Italy.

Last September, Vardy signed a one-year contract with newly-promoted Serie A side Cremonese with the option of extending for a further year should the club avoid relegation.
And just two months later, he became the first English player to win Serie A's Player of the Month award after scoring four goals in his opening matches.
As per Capology estimates, Jamie Vardy earns €35,557 per week at Cremonese, which equates to approximately £30,840. This makes him the joint-fourth highest-paid player in the Cremonese squad, sharing that position with other key members of the Italian club's wage structure.

The contrast between Vardy's current Cremonese salary and his Leicester City earnings is huge. From the 18/19 season onwards at Leicester, it was estimated via Capology that Vardy was earning £140k-per-week, a reflection of his importance in the East Midlands over the years.
Perhaps the most striking aspect of all this is that his current Cremonese salary of approximately £30,840 per-week is remarkably similar to what he earned during the 14/15 season with the Foxes.
As per the 'Earnings History' section on Capology, Vardy was estimated to be on £30k-per-week during that campaign, when he scored five goals in the Premier League. Even this was a shed-load more than what he was apparently earning during 13/14, which was £8.5k-a-week.
The pay cut from £140k to approximately £30k per-week represents a reduction of well over £5m annually, which shows Vardy's determination to continue playing at the highest level rather than pursuing more lucrative opportunities elsewhere. When moves to the MLS or Saudi Arabia, for example, would have been favoured by others at this stage of their careers, Vardy's desire to simply stay competitive in the top-flight is admirable.
By the time he left the East Midlands, Vardy's estimated total earnings from just his base wages was over £67m.
Despite the estimated wage reduction, Vardy has shown no signs of slowing down in Serie A. The foxes legend has scored five goals in 16 appearances for Cremonese, matching the record set by Chelsea icon Gianfranco Zola for a promoted player aged 38 or older in Italy's top-flight.
Given the aforementioned clause to extend his contract, his goals have been crucial in keeping Cremonese away from the relegation zone - as they sit eight points clear of the drop after 20 games.
