Jan Bednarek leaves Southampton to join FC Porto | OneFootball

Jan Bednarek has officially signed for FC Porto, with the club confirming the deal on Monday evening.

The 29-year-old Polish defender has agreed a four-year contract, keeping him at the Estádio do Dragão until 2029.

Bednarek makes the move from Southampton in a €7.5 million deal, with Porto securing 100% of his rights. As part of the agreement, the experienced centre-back is protected by a €60 million release clause.

During his time at Southampton, Bednarek made 254 appearances, scoring 11 goals and chipping in with four assists. He was a mainstay in their 2023/24 campaign, helping them secure promotion back to the Premier League.

On the international stage, Bednarek brings plenty of pedigree, having earned 69 caps for Poland. He’s featured in major tournaments including the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, as well as Euro 2020 and Euro 2024.
