Jan Bednarek misses Aves SAD trip to support family after home invasion

Jan Bednarek did not travel for FC Porto’s visit to Aves SAD, staying home to support his family after a Friday night break-in.

According to O Jogo, the Polish centre-back had initially been named in the squad for today’s match but was left off the teamsheet.

He remained in Porto to be with his wife and young daughter. The decision was taken jointly to give them as much peace as possible.

While returning home in Porto on Friday night, the family were confronted by five intruders, one of whom threatened Bednarek with a knife.

No one was injured, though the emotional impact was significant.
