After more than eight years of dedicated and successful service, Jan-Christian Dreesen is stepping down from the Executive Committee of the German Football League (DFL) in order to concentrate more on the strategic development of FC Bayern Munich and representing the club on the international stage.

Jan-Christian Dreesen: "After careful consideration, I have decided to resign from my position on the DFL Executive Committee. The increased demands of my role as CEO of FC Bayern Munich and my international duties as vice chair of the European Club Association (ECA) require my full attention. I have therefore informed my colleagues in the DFL accordingly and would like to thank them all most sincerely for their many years of constructive cooperation and their understanding of my personal decision. It was a pleasure and an honour for me to make my contribution to the development of the DFL and German professional football in this position."

However, FC Bayern Munich wants to continue to live up to its responsibility in German football and will be proposing Dr Michael Diederich as his successor on the DFL Executive Committee in the upcoming election. Dreesen: "Michael is a very good choice when it comes to representing FC Bayern on this committee. I am convinced of that."

The FC Bayern Annual General Meeting will be held on 8 December:
