An up-and-coming talent to have made his way to La Liga giants Real Madrid during the winter transfer window turned heads with his latest display on Wednesday.
The player in question? Jeremy De León.
Winger De León, for his part, was snapped up by Real in a cut-price deal this past January, ahead of the expiration of his contract with third tier Castellón in the summer.
Despite rival interest from a host of clubs across Spain’s top-flight, the wish of the 19-year-old to test his talents alongside the very best ultimately culminated in the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu beating out the competition.
And, as alluded to above, on Wednesday, De León provided an insight into exactly why Los Blancos were so keen on his signature in the first place.
The Puerto Rican was afforded a starting berth in a match between ranks at Real’s Valdebebas training base this afternoon.
The matchup featured a mix of players from the club’s youth ranks, Castilla outfit, and Carlo Ancelotti’s first-team.
From the latter, the likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ferland Mendy, Lucas Vázquez, captain Nacho and the returning Éder Militão all played some part.
And yet, as per a report from Relevo, it was De León who proved himself one of the game’s ‘standout’ performers.
The youngster, it is understood, impressed with his endeavours in the final third, putting his touch, quick feet, and explosive pace to good use.
Also enjoying noteworthy afternoons, in netting beyond Kepa, were fellow starlets Álvaro Rodríguez, and David González.
