January recruits at Champions League clubs cannot play in Europe until the league phase ends. That includes Antoine Semenyo at Manchester City, Giacomo Raspadori at Atalanta and Conor Gallagher at Tottenham, with clubs permitted to add up to three for the knockouts.

According to UEFA rules, once the league phase is complete a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remainder of the current competition, across the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.

The 25-player limit on List A remains in force. If new arrivals take a squad beyond 25, another player must be removed from the list. The registration deadline is 5 February at midnight.

Those players may feature in their domestic competitions immediately.

There is no bar on those mid-season additions having already played for another club earlier in this edition. They may have appeared in qualifying, the play-offs or the league phase of the Champions League, Europa League or Conference League.
