The former Tottenham Hotspur man has rediscovered himself in the second tier during the last 18 months at The Den, originally joining on loan before completing a free transfer last summer.

Solidifying the Lions' backline with his leadership, physicality and natural ability to read the game ahead of others, Tanganga has showcased why he is destined for a return to one of the big European leagues, with a number of clubs interested in making a move for him on a cut-price deal.

Proving to be a shrewd addition for any top-flight side, FLW rounds-up the latest developments surrounding Tanganga’s future.

Japhet Tanganga to prefer a move to Germany or France this summer

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Japhet Tanganga would prefer his next move to be overseas.

It is believed the defender is keen on a move to a club in Germany or France in the coming weeks or months, delivering a body blow to the various Premier League clubs interested in securing his services.

Tanganga had a previous move to a German outfit, making the switch to Bundesliga team Augsburg during the first half of the 2023/24 campaign, but he failed to make a single appearance because of a reoccurring knee injury.

It appears Tanganga may be feeling like he has unfinished business in the German top-flight after failing to get a taste of Bundesliga action, and is hoping his impressive performances at Millwall are enough to make his dreams a reality.

As per the Daily Express, Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Japhet Tanganga.

A sale to Selhurst Park is all dependent on whether Marc Guehi leaves the London outfit, but it could be a possibility as the England international has once again been linked with a move to Newcastle United.

The report also states that because the Eagles are a more stable Premier League club and have the prospect of European football, they would have the edge in the pursuit, with Tanganga wanting his future sorted by the end of the month.

As per a report by GiveMeSport, promoted trio Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland are also weighing up a move for Japhet Tanganga, as they prepare to bolster their squads ahead of their Premier League returns.

Burnley are reported to be particularly keen on luring the defender away from The Den, with the report revealing Tanganga has a release clause of under £2 million, making him a very affordable option.

Scott Parker is a long-term admirer of the 26-year-old’s ability to play in both a back three and a back four, with the Clarets viewing the defender as a perfect fit for their rebuild.
