Jarell Quansah will be suspended for England’s World Cup quarter-final against Norway after being sent off against Mexico.
According to L'Équipe, the Bayer Leverkusen defender, 23, started at right-back, his second start of the tournament.
He was dismissed in the 54th minute for a heavy challenge on Jesus Gallardo at the Azteca, though England still won 3-2.
The quarter-final is set for Saturday 11 July in Miami, with kick-off at 23:00 in France. FIFA may extend the ban beyond one match in cases of serious foul play and will decide on the incident shortly.
England could turn to Djed Spence or Reece James to cover in Quansah’s absence, both Premier League players familiar with the threat posed by Erling Haaland.
