Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper Jason Steele (35) has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027, Sky Sports reports.
Since joining the Seagulls in 2018, Steele has made 60 appearances across all competitions, serving as a steady and experienced figure in a rapidly evolving Brighton side. Having previously represented Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland, and Northampton Town, the 35-year-old has become an influential voice within the dressing room at the Amex Stadium.
Head coach Fabian Hürzeler praised Steele’s leadership and example, describing him as “a big influence in the dressing room” who upholds “high standards on and off the pitch.”
For Steele, the extension represents a chance to further embed himself in a project that continues to punch above its weight in English football. “The progress the club has made since I came to Brighton is incredible,” he said. “Hopefully I can reach ten years here, that would be a fantastic achievement.”
Brighton’s ambitions remain high, with Steele targeting another European qualification. “Playing in Europe was such a brilliant experience,” he added. “With the quality in this squad, there’s no reason we can’t do it again.”
