Javi Guerra is not on Spain’s 55-man provisional list, so he has no chance of playing at the 2026 World Cup, despite joining the senior camp as one of nine training reinforcements.

Cadena Cope reported that Guerra and Beñat Turrientes are the only two of those nine not included in Luis de la Fuente’s initial 55, a call-up that recognises the Valencia midfielder’s excellent late-season form.

There were no Valencia players in the 55 and only two from clubs in the Comunitat Valenciana, Carlos Espí of Levante UD and Alberto Moleiro of Villarreal, while replacements for the final 26 can only come from the other 29 on that FIFA list, keeping both in distant contention.

The 26 were confirmed on Monday 25 May, with King Felipe VI appearing in an RFEF promotional video.

Others on the 55 who could be considered if injuries strike include Pablo Fornals of Betis, Cristhian Mosquera of Arsenal and Carlos Soler of Real Sociedad.

The nine support players are Marc Bernal, Javi Rodríguez, Jesús Rodríguez, Leo Román, Gonzalo, Sergio Gómez, Jon Martín, Turrientes and Guerra.

They will train with Spain until the friendly against Iraq in A Coruña on 4 June, covering for injured squad members and those involved in the Champions League final between Arsenal and PSG.

Spain are in Group H and will also face Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in the group stage. The training camp begins on Saturday 30 May at Las Rozas in Madrid.
