Javier Aguirre has given Valencia’s players time off after an intensive first block of training under the new head coach. The squad will reconvene following three demanding days to open his tenure.

According to Superdeporte, the Mexican scrapped a planned Saturday rest day soon after landing on Thursday, allowing a third straight session to accelerate his ideas and set early standards. He worked alongside assistant Toni Amor and fitness coach Pol Lorente.

The players are off on Sunday as scheduled, plus extra hours on Monday, and will be back on the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna pitches at 18:00. That session starts two clear weeks of preparation for the 11 October trip to Racing de Santander.

The urgency is clear, with Valencia on four points from seven league games and second-bottom of the table. Aguirre is using this window to learn his squad and lift intensity.

There was positive news on Mouctar Diakhaby, who completed part of Saturday’s session with the group as his recovery progresses. Copete, Sadiq, Tárrega, Foulquier, Diego López and Canós continued treatment with physios or worked alone, while the rest trained normally. The hope is to have additional options available for Santander beyond Diakhaby.
