Javier Pastore, now agent to Enzo Fernandez, said: “We have made peace with Chelsea.” He was speaking to Topmercato.

“We are on the same wavelength with Chelsea. We made peace yesterday and the day before, between Chelsea and the player. There were never really problems, we clarified things.”

The mood had soured after Fernandez said he would like to live in Spain and that he liked Madrid, which reminded him of Buenos Aires, in comments to an influencer.

Some read that as a nod to Real Madrid, which irritated people inside the club. Head coach Liam Rosenior said “a limit has been crossed” and left him out of the next two matches.

“There were many interviews in a short time where he spoke about his future. The media mixed many things and started saying he was going to leave Chelsea. There is nothing at all,” Pastore said.

“We explained to the club that he said it without malice, that he made a mistake. He naturally asked forgiveness of the club, his team-mates, the head coach, the sporting director, everyone. We are all on the same line, it just needed the misunderstanding to be sorted.”
