Javier Tebas questions Florentino Pérez over Real Madrid line on FIFA plan and CVC | OneFootball

The LALIGA president, Javier Tebas, responded to Real Madrid’s statement on FIFA’s new financing model, challenging the coherence of the club’s economic stance.

According to Superdeporte, Tebas agreed with one point raised by Madrid, arguing that FIFA cannot unilaterally allocate future football revenues without the clubs, who assume the costs and risks.

He then rebutted Madrid’s criticism of transactions such as the CVC agreement. He stressed that the deal was voluntary and that each club chose whether to join. Madrid stayed out, so it has no income tied to that arrangement, while most clubs backed it using the same autonomy.

Tebas also highlighted what he sees as a contradiction, recalling that Madrid have used various financing tools in recent years. These include pledging income linked to the Santiago Bernabéu, bringing a fund into the operation of certain stadium businesses for two decades, and studying ways to allow investors into the club’s assets.

He further pointed to the club’s lawsuits and complaints against LALIGA and himself, saying those actions have not prospered.

Finally, he questioned Madrid’s claim to set football’s direction, noting the club championed the Super League as a necessary response to a supposed structural crisis that, in his view, did not materialise.
