We looked at two transfers Sheffield Wednesday should target before the end of the transfer window.
Sheffield Wednesday will be hoping for a much-improved campaign in the Championship this season.
The Owls only narrowly avoided relegation last season after a remarkable turnaround under Danny Rohl, but optimism is high that they can climb the table in the year ahead.
Wednesday received a huge boost when Rohl signed a new long-term contract at the club in May, and the German has wasted no time in getting to work on rebuilding his squad, with 10 new signings arriving at Hillsborough so far this summer.
There have also been a number of departures, including the likes of Cameron Dawson, Ciaran Brennan, Reece James, Will Vaulks, George Byers, Tyreeq Bakinson, Juan Delgado and Lee Gregory, while Mallik Wilks has joined Rotherham United on loan.
With just days remaining until the end of the transfer window, there are likely to be further incomings and outgoings for the Owls, and we looked at two last minute signings Rohl should target.
With Wilks completing a loan move to Rotherham, Rohl may be keen to strengthen in the wide areas before the closure of the window.
Wednesday have missed out on two transfer targets this summer in Ian Poveda and Karamoko Dembele, and another winger believed to be on their radar, Rangers' Scott Wright, has featured regularly for Philippe Clement's side so far this season, so they may need to turn their attention elsewhere.
One player the Owls should target is Notts County winger Jodi Jones, who enjoyed an outstanding campaign for the Magpies in League Two last season.
Jones registered an incredible 24 assists in 43 league appearances last term, which saw him break Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry's record for the most assists in a single season in the top four tiers of English football, while he also scored six goals.
The 26-year-old was recognised for his performances as he was named the PFA League Two Player of the Year this week, and his fine form has continued into the new season.
Some may question why a player of Jones' ability is playing in League Two, but he has got his career back on track at Meadow Lane after a number of serious injuries, and he looks destined to make the step up to a higher level at some stage in the near future.
Notts will be desperate to ensure that Jones remains at the club beyond the deadline as they look to challenge for promotion this season, but Wednesday should test their resolve, and he could be an incredibly shrewd signing for an affordable fee.
Wednesday have signed three new strikers this summer in Jamal Lowe, Charlie McNeill and Ike Ugbo, but they are still looking to bolster their forward line before the end of the window.
Rohl appeared to confirm this week that Bailey Cadamarteri would be leaving the club on loan, while Michael Smith has been linked with a move to Wrexham, so there is no doubt more firepower is needed.
With his future still unresolved heading into the final week of the window, the Owls should join the race for Fulham striker Jay Stansfield.
Stansfield scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 47 appearances in all competitions during his loan spell at Birmingham City last season, and he is attracting interest from a number of clubs this summer, including Hull City, Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers.
Despite their relegation to League One, it had been claimed that the Blues were in talks to re-sign Stansfield on a permanent basis, but while they have not given up on bringing him back to the club, they are believed to be cooling their interest.
With Birmingham potentially out of the race, it seems unlikely that any of Stansfield's other suitors would be able to meet his reported £6 million valuation, which could mean that Fulham decide to send the striker out on loan instead.
