According to L'Équipe, the economist Jean-François Bourg says foreign funds are flocking to French football because the outlay is limited for them and the sport’s popularity offers prospects of added value.

Bourg is a researcher at the Centre for Law and Economics of Sport at OMIJ, University of Limoges.

He is a member of the International Association of Sport Economists and is recognised for his work on sports economics.

He has written 18 books, translated into several languages, including Economie du sport with Jean-Jacques Gouguet, published by La Découverte.
