Jean-Matteo Bahoya’s proposed transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt to Hull City has collapsed after the 21-year-old decided against the move, despite a verbal club-to-club agreement, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Momentum had built as the window neared its end, with Hull the most concrete suitor. The attacker ultimately opted not to head to England.

Bahoya’s future has been a talking point all summer. Roma had been considering the Frankfurt winger as an alternative to RB Leipzig attacker Antonio Nusa, and Eintracht were said to be open to offers approaching €30m.

Frankfurt paid about €8m to sign him from Angers in January 2024. The France youth international has since emerged as a lively wide option, with searing pace his standout trait.

As things stand he remains an Eintracht player going into the final stretch of the window. Other scenarios cannot be ruled out before the deadline, but the specific switch to Hull is off.
