Jed Wallace has revealed that he believes that West Bromwich Albion will eventually be able to match the form that Burnley have demonstrated over a long period of time with Carlos Corberan at the helm.

The Baggies suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of the Clarets last Friday which resulted in them slipping to 10th in the Championship.

Burnley’s remarkable form at this level has allowed them to move 18 points clear of Watford who occupy third place in the league standings.

Vincent Kompany’s have only lost two games at this level during the current campaign and have managed to win 11 of the 15 home league matches that they have participated in.

While West Brom have improved significantly since handing over the reins to Corberan, they face a battle to reach the play-offs this season as a plethora of clubs are eyeing a top-six finish.

The Baggies are set to make their return to Championship action on February 3rd when they host Coventry City at The Hawthorns.

Making reference to Burnley, Wallace has admitted that he thinks that his side will be able to reach similar heights in terms of the success achieved by the league leaders.

Speaking to the Express & Star, Wallace said: “Credit to them [Burnley], they’re a very good team in my opinion, they’re probably three or four months ahead of where we want to be.

“But with the manager and the staff here we’ll hopefully be as good as them when we’ve had the same amount of time that Kompany’s had with their players.

“You could see the organisation they’ve had on and off the ball, we’re still growing, two-and-a-half months into the manager’s reign, we go back to [the] drawing board, keep working hard and I’m sure we’ll keep climbing the table.”

The Verdict

When you consider that West Brom have produced a host of promising performances in recent months, there is no reason why they cannot go on to match the consistency shown by Burnley.

Corberan is currently able to turn to a host of players who are capable of making a difference at this level and thus will be confident in his ability to guide the Baggies to a top-six finish.

Providing that he maintains his fitness in the coming months, Wallace is likely to play a significant role in Albion’s quest for success.

The winger has managed to provide in the Championship this season and will be determined to add to this tally on a regular basis in the club’s upcoming league fixtures.
