Andrée Jeglertz hopes his side can continue the momentum gained from our Manchester derby triumph to continue our push for FA Cup glory.
City travel to the Midlands on Monday 6 April as we take on a high-flying Birmingham City side at St Andrews, with kick-off set for 17:00 (UK).
Our quarter-final clash sees the Barclays Women’s Super League table toppers take on the WSL 2 leaders as the two in-form sides go head-to-head for a place in the final four.
Victory would see us sign off in the best way possible ahead of the international break, and the boss touched on how our performance against Manchester United can help our momentum going into Monday.
“I think every time when you win and you have a great performance it’s building a confidence in the team,” Jeglertz said.
“That, of course, is going to help us. We also think that there is a high, very high level in this squad and amongst the players and the quality we have.
“So having that with us for moving onto the next few games is, of course, it’s very good.”
Our opponents have been thriving in the second tier and will no doubt be fully motivated to cause an upset following Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory over Sunderland, which sent them to the WSL 2 summit.
Their FA Cup journey has also been commanding after convincing victories over Sporting Khalsa, Hull City and Chatham Town.
Meanwhile, City’s route to the final eight has seen us fend off Sheffield United and Bournemouth - scoring ten goals across the two games.
And Jeglertz also explained his excitement to be competing in the quarter-final stage of the prestigious competition.
“We’re all aiming for the big final and all the teams that are still in the tournament are tough opponents,” he added.
“And that means also that there are more things to achieve from a game.
“So yeah, that’s why the games are a little bit special, of course.”
Finally, while our focus has been fully on the WSL as we look to claim the title for the first time in ten years, Jeglertz discussed the importance of still having attention on the Cup.
“I think that we should be able to battle on many fronts,” he said.
“So just saying that the league is one thing and this is also something that we still have an opportunity to go all the way in.
“So the cup is something that we really would like to have success in, and that means that the focus on this will be the same focus as in the league.
“But we also know that it’s one game that you need to win to qualify for the semi-final, and we will do everything we can to do that.”
