Manchester City will be without Jeremy Doku for at least a couple of weeks.

City manager Enzo Maresca revealed in his press conference ahead of the Bournemouth on Saturday that the 24-year-old is set for a spell on the sidelines.

The Belgium international sustained a calf injury during the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal and had to come off at half-time.

Maresca has revealed that Doku may be out for two to three weeks. Doku was playing for the first time under Maresca, and was one of City’s brightest players in the first half.

His injury was a significant blow, as City struggled to cause the Gunners problems after the break.

Jack Grealish replaced the Belgian international at the interval. Grealish has been linked with a move away from the club, but may now have a chance to salvage his City career.

Full-back Rayan Ait Nouri is another option. He could used in an advanced position after featuring further forward during pre-season.

Antoine Semenyo could also be deployed on the left wing, with Rayan Cherki or Phil Foden starting on the opposite flank.

Teenage signing Jeremy Monga is another option to fill in while Doku is sidelined.

City will be desperate to start the season with a victory after being outclassed by the Gunners at the Principality Stadium last weekend.
