Corinthians confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard on Friday morning via the club’s social channels, and the Englishman said the welcome in Brazil has already felt special.

"First I saw fans at the airport shouting 'Vai, Corinthians!', you know? There is a lot of passion from the supporters, which is wonderful to see. The training centre here is incredible. The players, the coach and the director welcomed me with open arms. My first impressions, very happy, I cannot wait to play." He told Corinthians TV.

The unveiling took place at a deserted Neo Química Arena, and Lingard said he is keen for his first on-pitch meeting with the Fiel. "It is a magical feeling. I had only seen it online, but being there was wonderful. I imagine that, with the supporters, it will be a crazy atmosphere, and we want to win every game for them."

In footage released on the club’s official channel, he was shown doing strengthening work indoors at the CT Dr Joaquim Grava and light ball work apart from the group. Midfielder Matheus Pereira was on the same pitch, still recovering from a grade 2 injury to his left hamstring.

Lingard has signed until the end of 2026, with an automatic extension to 2027 if pre-set targets are met, and will wear No 77. He signed off in Portuguese, "Fala, Fiel, here is Jesse Lingard. Vai, Corinthians!"
