Jesse Lingard has been ruled out of Corinthians’ Copa Libertadores last-16 second leg against Rosario Central at Neo Química Arena on Thursday, kick-off 21:30.

The 33-year-old is sidelined with a left ankle sprain and is not in the matchday squad. He also missed Wednesday’s training at CT Joaquim Grava, according to ge.globo.

Lingard featured without restriction in Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Cruzeiro, coming on at half-time for Breno Bidon and delivering a quiet second half.

Under Fernando Diniz he has largely been used from the bench. Since arriving in March he has made 25 appearances, 10 of them starts, with two goals and one assist.

Corinthians have several other absentees, particularly in attack. André Ramalho, André Luiz, Kayke, Vitinho, Yuri Alberto and Zakaria Labyad are in the medical department, while Allan serves a suspension for his first-leg dismissal.

Memphis Depay has been included for the first time since his contract renewal was confirmed on Tuesday.

Corinthians will reach the quarter-finals with a straightforward win. If the tie is level again after 90 minutes it will be decided by penalties.
