Jesús Valenzuela to referee Boca vs Cruzeiro in Copa Libertadores

CONMEBOL announced that Jesús Valenzuela will take charge of Boca v Cruzeiro in the Copa Libertadores group stage, on Tuesday 19 May from 21:30 at La Bombonera. The fixture is important for Boca as they chase a place in the last 16.

Valenzuela will be assisted by Tulio Moreno and Alberto Ponte, with Yender Herrera named as fourth official. Ángel Arteaga is assigned to VAR, with Marcos Suárez as AVAR.

The Venezuelan returns to officiate Boca. He has refereed them four times, yielding two wins, one draw and one defeat.

His most recent Boca assignment was against the same opponents at the same venue. On 16 August 2024, Boca beat Cruzeiro 1-0 in the Copa Sudamericana round of 16.

All six officials are Venezuelan. The meeting falls on matchday five of the group phase.
