Jill Scott arrived in Sunderland on the final leg of her 388-mile homecoming challenge, thanking crowds along Durham Road for their support.

"I'm in a lot of pain, but the support has been amazing and I really appreciate it." As reported by Sunderland Echo, supporters lined Durham Road and by The Board Inn in East Herrington as she headed for the Stadium of Light.

Bill Pearson, there with his daughter Alexis James, said the charity effort was brilliant and called Scott a great ambassador for the city.

She set off from Wembley Stadium on Monday, June eight, cycling to Villa Park. On day two she rode 99 miles to Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium, then on day three ran 38 miles to Manchester.

Yesterday she cycled 111 miles across the Pennines to Bishop Aukland. Today, June 12, she is running the final 28 miles to the Stadium of Light.

She is raising money for Sport Relief and donations can be made via her fundraising page.
