JJ Gabriel called up to Man Utd first team for upcoming friendly | OneFootball

Manchester United have included 15-year-old JJ Gabriel for Friday's friendly fixture against Norwegian side Rosenborg.

Gabriel is a player that is thought of highly at Old Trafford and the club have been paying extra attention to his development, especially with admirers across Europe.

After an impressive 2025/26 campaign at youth level where he got to the FA Youth Cup final with United, Gabriel could now make his non-competitive first team debut tomorrow after being included in Michael Carrick's squad.

Should Gabriel impress at senior level then he could be in line for a debut this season and with his 16th birthday not until October, he has time to beat the current record for youngest Manchester United player that is currently held by goalkeeper David Gaskell who made his debut at 16 years and 19 days old.

Gaskell's debut came in a 1-0 win for United over local rivals Manchester City in the 1956 Charity Shield under Matt Busby. The shot-stopper stayed at the club until 1968 and later played for Wigan Athletic, Wrexham, and South African side Arcadia Shepherds. He died just last year at the age of 84.
