Joane Gadou and Justin Lerma will wear these jersey numbers at BVB

Joane Gadou will play for Borussia Dortmund with the number 22 jersey going forward. The number was not assigned in the past two seasons; most recently, Ian Maatsen wore the number 22 on his Borussia Dortmund jersey. In the past, players such as Marcio Amoroso (2001–2004), Christian Pulisic (2015–2019), and Jude Bellingham (2020–2023) also wore the number 22 for BVB.

Meanwhile, new signing Justin Lerma will be hunting for goals with the number 28 on his Black and Yellow jersey. The 18-year-old joined Dortmund this summer from Ecuadorian first-division club Independiente del Valle. By wearing the number 28, Lerma is following in the footsteps of players such as Matthias Ginter (2014–2017) and Axel Witsel (2018–2022). Most recently, the number 28 at BVB was worn by Aaron Anselmino.
