Joane Gadou joins Borussia Dortmund from Salzburg in €20m deal | OneFootball

Joane Gadou, the 19-year-old French centre-back, has joined Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg for about €20m excluding bonuses. According to L'Équipe, he signed a five-year contract to 2031, with the move announced on Tuesday.

Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga this season and are qualified for next season’s Champions League. The 1.95m defender arrives to continue his development.

Trained at Paris Saint-Germain, he won the French U19 title in 2023-24 before moving to Salzburg in 2024. He made 58 appearances across two seasons with the Austrian club.

Sporting director Lars Ricken said Dortmund had tracked Gadou since his PSG days and that they believe he will strengthen the team and play an important role from the start of the new season. He added they are convinced by his qualities and see huge potential in his development.

Gadou said he is extremely excited to join the BVB family and cannot wait to wear black and yellow for the first time. He said he wants to achieve success over the coming years with his team-mates, the club and their supporters.
