Joao Gomes’ future remains uncertain, and Crystal Palace have re-emerged as contenders for the Wolves midfielder amid fresh claims around their summer plans. The link centres on attempts to keep Oliver Glasner at Selhurst Park.
The Daily Mail reports that Palace aim to strengthen three positions to persuade their head coach to stay beyond the season, with central midfield among them. Kamada could miss about 10 weeks with a hamstring injury sustained against Man City last month, and the report names Gomes and Kevin Danois.
Glasner has been clear he wants reinforcements as Palace chase the Europa Conference League. Matt Hobbs, formerly of Wolves and now at Palace, watched Gomes recently, with Jorgen Strand Larsen also a target for Glasner.
Earlier in his tenure, Rob Edwards was told none of Wolves’ top players would be sold, though he has since admitted they may have to sell to buy.
Glasner’s future at Palace remains uncertain and could end with his departure after the season. Any push to keep him may work against Wolves if Gomes is pursued.
The Austrian is now a target for Manchester United after Ruben Amorim was sacked, with United also linked to Gomes. That leaves both apparent destinations clouded, and while Glasner could move to Old Trafford then bid for the midfielder in the summer, the player may prefer a stable project.
