Despite not being the head coach, João Martins has assembled a significant run at Palmeiras. The assistant to Abel Ferreira has already led the side in 34 matches and will remain in charge for at least three more in the Brazilian league.
As reported by Nosso Palestra, his interim stewardship stems from Ferreira's absences, with Martins maintaining the dugout duties when required.
He has a 62.7% record, figures that place him among recent permanent managers at the club. His 34 matches equal Cuca's tally in 2017 and put him within reach of others who followed.
Vanderlei Luxemburgo led 38 matches in 2020, while Roger Machado oversaw 44 in 2018. Mano Menezes had 20 in 2019, and Eduardo Baptista 23 in 2017.
The run is noted not only for its length but its efficiency. Even as an interim, Martins has preserved Abel Ferreira's tactical and competitive standards, providing stability during the head coach's absences.
