Doubts surround Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves as PSG weigh up midfield options for Friday’s Ligue 1 matchday 19 trip to Auxerre, according to L'Équipe.

A day after the 1-2 defeat to Sporting, PSG returned to the Campus de Poissy for a Thursday afternoon session. Fabian Ruiz was absent, having remained indoors following his 80th minute withdrawal in Lisbon.

He took a blow to his left leg and left the pitch limping, apparently a dead leg. A fresh medical assessment was planned for Thursday, the eve of the Auxerre trip.

If Ruiz is unavailable, Luis Enrique’s options in midfield are thin. Alongside Kang-In Lee and Quentin Ndjantou, Joao Neves has missed the last two matches with a muscle issue. The head coach said on the eve of the Sporting game that it was not considered serious.

Matveï Safonov, who sustained a left hand fracture against Flamengo in the Intercontinental Cup on 17 December, after a 1-1 draw and a 2-1 win on penalties, should wait longer before returning.
