Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves has left Ronaldo out of his picks for the best player in the Saudi Pro League and in the Portugal national team.
According to Goal.com, when asked to identify standout performers across several leagues and for Portugal, he overlooked his captain and instead highlighted compatriot João Félix of Al-Nassr as the Saudi Pro League’s current standout.
He described Félix as a magician, then, when pressed to choose Portugal’s best, said he would back himself after already selecting Portuguese standouts in England and Italy.
By contrast, he picked PSG team-mate Lionel Messi, now Inter Miami captain and Ronaldo’s long-time rival, as the leading player in the American league.
Neves has featured alongside both Ronaldo and Félix for Portugal since October 2023 after impressing for Benfica.
