João Nuno faces selection problems before Estrela da Amadora visit Benfica in the 19th round, after a 5-0 defeat to Estoril left Abraham Marcus and Jovane Cabral suspended.
According to Glorioso 1904, Marcus, a Porto academy winger, was dismissed on 45 minutes for striking former Benfica player João Carvalho during a rapid Estrela break. He has started 10 of the 11 league rounds under João Nuno.
Jovane Cabral was cautioned in the 92nd minute, his fifth booking of the league campaign, and will also miss the trip. He is one of Estrela’s key figures, with three goals this season.
In the first league meeting, Benfica won 1-0 at Estádio José Gomes in Reboleira, Vangelis Pavlidis scoring from the penalty spot. That was Benfica’s opening match of the domestic competition.
The game is set for Sunday, the 25th, at Estádio da Luz, with exclusive broadcast on BTV. Benfica aim to continue their pursuit of the league lead.
