Grêmio have allowed right-back João Pedro to seek a new club after head coach Luís Castro informed him he is no longer in the staff's plans.
According to Globo.com, he continues to train with the first team and is in good condition. There are no confirmed enquiries or offers yet, though discussions could develop in the coming weeks. His deal runs until the end of 2027.
He has not been named in a matchday squad since 30 May, when he came on in the second half of the 3-1 home defeat to Corinthians. This year he has been called for only 12 matches and played in nine.
He lost his place after a left hamstring injury in February. He returned only in the Corinthians game, by which time Luís Castro had been using Pavon there, and the Argentine had cemented the role. The July arrival of right-back Diego Caito from Goiás further squeezed his opportunities.
Signed from Corinthians in 2023, João Pedro started across his first two seasons. Injuries disrupted 2025, including a left ankle fracture in May and a vein thrombosis beneath the right collarbone in September, which ruled him out for the rest of the year. Midfielder Willian is nearing a contract termination, Monsalve has been left out and could be moved on, and defender Balbuena has also fallen down the pecking order.
