Joao Pedro faced backlash from Brighton fans after a provocative celebration against his former club during Chelsea’s 4-3 win at Stamford Bridge. The forward starred in the narrow victory but his conduct drew criticism from the travelling support.

With Xabi Alonso’s side chasing a perfect start to the Premier League season, the away end targeted the Brazilian from kick-off. After spurning a notable chance, he later scored and celebrated in front of the visiting section.

Former Brighton winger Anthony Knockaert condemned the behaviour, writing: "Don’t forget what Brighton did for you mate. Ungrateful."

Pedro now has two goals and two assists in his first two league matches. Former striker Darren Bent praised the move for Chelsea’s third, saying: "Really good finish. Rogers was at the heart of it, he starts it, then it’s Hato with a really good run."
