Chelsea forward Joao Pedro has withdrawn from Brazil’s next friendlies against Australia and India because of injury, the Brazilian federation announced on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old completed the full match for Chelsea against Hull City on Saturday in the Premier League, which finished 2-2.

He scored one goal and supplied an assist.

The federation did not disclose the nature of his injury and has called up Fluminense midfielder Matheus Martinelli to replace him.

Brazil will play two friendlies in Australia on 25 and 29 September, then meet India in Calcutta on 3 October.
